Supper @ His House volunteer dinner slated

IRON RIVER—Supper @ His House will host an appreciation dinner for all cooks’ teams at 6 p.m. on Thursday Feb. 1, at the First Presbyterian Church, located at 525 West Adams St. in Iron River.
The dinner is for all those that graciously volunteered their time and talents in 2017 to cook meals for the local community.
Team leaders will be notified by phone or mail of the event, and are requested to contact their individual team members. All people who have participated as a member of a cook team are welcome to attend.
For planning purposes, organizers ask that volunteers who plan to attend RSVP to First Presbyterian Church at 265-2018 by Jan. 23.
Supper @ His House is a weekly Tuesday evening event hosted at First Presbyterian Church that continues to be a worthwhile community program freely sharing food and fellowship throughout the year.
“If you have signed up to volunteer in the past, we thank you!” Donna Ahlberg said. “We continue to need and value all of the teams who support Supper @ His House.”
Cook teams are responsible for planning, purchasing and preparing meals by cooking for 50-60 people each week.  Meals must be prepared on site at First Presbyterian church due to health code regulations. With that in mind, a member of the Steering Committee will be on site to assist each cook team in the kitchen.
The program can reimburse for up to $75 in food receipts.  Additionally, the organization has a small pantry of food items that can be used for meals. Freewill donations are also accepted with 100 percent of funds going back to support the program.
Anyone interested in getting involved and sharing their culinary skills is asked to call the church at 265-2018 and schedule a week through the secretary who is there on weekday mornings.
All are invited to the weekly community meal, which is held beginning at 5 p.m. on Tuesdays in the fellowship dining hall. There are no meals served during July.
