Spots are available to volunteer for Supper at His House meal

IRON RIVER—More teams of four or five people are needed for the coming 2016 calendar year for the Supper at His House weekly meal at the First Presbyterian Church of Iron County.
“We would appreciate it if you would talk with your neighbors, friends, church community, service organization and co-workers to develop a team,” said Lillian Simmons of the Supper at His House Committee. “Your service will help keep Supper at His House a vital outreach program to families and individuals in Iron County and the surrounding area.
Supper at His House was originally organized in 2004 serving a meal once a month. It has since evolved to a weekly community outreach program that began in January 2015.
In 2015, 2,552 meals were served for an average of 49 meals served weekly. The mission statement stresses no questions, no qualifiers and no charge for these weekly community meals; however attendees freely make donations as they are able. Donations are used to support the program, permitting teams who wish to share with others through service, but do not have the means to purchase the food to provide a meal, to engage in this mission.
“The outreach program could not exist without the weekly team of volunteers who shop, prepare and serve the meal,” Simmons said. “The enthusiasm in the kitchen and dining room is very evident from the communication and laughter generated when serving the families who attend.”
