Next ‘Lunch with Author’ slated for Oct. 25 at WIDL

IRON RIVER—The Friends of the West Iron District Library will host its next “Lunch with an Author” at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 25, in the J. Patrick White Conference room.
Tickets for the event are $6 and will be on sale from Wednesday, Oct. 3, through Saturday, Oct. 20, during regular library hours.
Tickets must be purchased in advance and are non-refundable. No phone reservations will be accepted. Seating is limited.
The featured author will be James M. Jackson, who authors the prize-winning Seamus McCree mystery series, consisting of six novels, one novella, and several short stories.
In addition, Jackson wrote the critically acclaimed book for intermediate bridge players, “One Trick at a Time: How to Start Winning at Bridge.”
Jackson bought property in Iron County in 1997, became a resident in 2004 and set two of his novels here.
Jackson is the past president of the 700-plus member “Guppy Chapter of Sisters in Crime” and one of the founding members of the “Writers Who Kill” blog.
In his talk, Jackson will share his insights about the world of modern mysteries, including the best and worst parts of being an author, how he researches his novels, tales of meeting famous authors, avoiding near publishing disasters, among other topics.
The author will leave time for questions and will conclude the event with a book signing. Copies of his novels will be available to purchase.
