Munn earns certification
CRYSTAL FALLS — Dr. Eric Kushion, DDS and staff at Today’s Smile Dentistry in Crystal Falls have announced that Michaela Munn has successfully completed the course offered by the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) to become a certified dental assistant.
Munn began working at Today’s Smile in the fall of 2015 after graduating from high school in June of that year.
“She began as an office assistant but quickly became interested in working with the doctor as a chairside assistant,” said Peg Padilla of Today’s Smile Dentistry.
Munn received her certification from the state of Michigan in dental radiology, and after some on-the-job training, began assisting full time.
Munn spent two years studying before taking the exams to become certified through DANB. The exams included three parts: general chairside assisting, radiology and infection control, all three of which she passed in December. Many states either recommend or require DANB certification for all their dental assistants.
“Michaela voluntarily sought this course of study and advancement in her career and her coworkers could not be more proud of her,” Padilla said.
