Miners Day Picnic remembers those who forged a living in Iron County
The Iron County Historical Museum was the site of the Miners Day Picnic on Aug. 31. The mining headframe that backdrops the museum grounds is a towering reminder of the sacrifice and dedication of miners that worked in the 72 mines of Iron County. The day also celebrated the enjoyment that underlies life in Iron County as youth took a turn at the apple cider press, searched for gemstones and painted scenes on rocks. There was home-cooked food, home-brewed drinks and homemade pies to be consumed while listening to home-spun music. Admission was free during the picnic because the event was hosted by The Miners State Bank.
