Local event to join World Tai Chi, Qigong Day
IRON RIVER—World Tai Chi and Qigong Day is Saturday, April 27, and local certified Qigong/Tai Chi instructor Irina Tarbeeva will hold an event to participate.
The one-hour free event will be held at 10 a.m. in the West Iron District Library courtyard. Students and practitioners will practice in the courtyard with refreshments to follow.
Hundreds of cities in more than 70 nations will participate in the day. This educational event brings people together across ethnic, racial, religious and geopolitical borders in celebration of personal and global health and healing.
The motto of the day is “One Word … One Breath.”
Harvard Health has called Tai Chi “moving meditation.” Tai Chi and Qigong can boost immune function by 50 percent; increase brain size; reduce depression and anxiety; reduce or eliminate chronic pain issues; dramatically improve balance, dexterity and sports performance; prevent colds and flu; lower blood pressure, reduce ADHD symptoms, improve sleep and more.
