Jazz quartet to play at Grace Covenant

IRON RIVER—The Chicago-based jazz quartet Stephen Lynerd Group will perform a free concert at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 9, at Grace Covenant Church (GCC).
The concert is the final installment of the 20th annual Summer Concert Series.
“We are so excited to be bringing this unique and talented group back to the U.P. for our final show of the season,” said Erika Lindwall, chairperson of the Worship Committee at GCC. “The primary instrument of Stephen Lynerd is the vibraphone, which is a percussion instrument resembling a xylophone that produces beautiful, bright, resonant tones, and he’s just mesmerizing to watch.”
The group plays jazz arrangements of a variety of Christian music, including contemporary songs, hymns and original tunes. The concert will be followed by refreshments and coffee. A freewill offering will be taken during the performance to help cover the cost of travel and lodging for the group.
