Fourth of July parade winners announced
IRON RIVER—The West Side Veterans Council has announced the category winners of the Fourth of July parade.
The winners are:
Adult Organizations: 1. Harry Burley; 2. In Memory of Curt Devore
Municipalities: 1. Caspian-Gaastra Fire Department; 2. West Iron County Fire Department; 3. Long Lake Fire and EMS
Nonprofits: 1. Iron River Bible Church; 2. VFW; 3. Lakeland Baptist Church
Youth Organizations: 1. Windsor Center; 2. Cub Scouts/Boy Scouts; 3. Katelyn Spitzer/Miss Midwest Int.
Commercial/Industrial: 1. The Stand; 2. First National Bank and Trust; 3. Angeli Foods
Classic and Antique Vehicles: 1. Classic Farm Machinery of Iron County
Comic: 1. Elvis Tribute of America
The West Side Veterans Council said it received lot of positive feedback on the parade and fireworks.
“It was a great parade kicked off by an impressive flyover, and the fireworks display was truly spectacular. And again, a special thanks to the fire department for the outstanding job with the fireworks. Turnout was terrific for all the events.
“We are pleased to be able to sponsor the Independence Day celebration and want to thank the community for the generous financial support that really enabled us to get this done. Plans are already underway for next year. We hope we can make it as special as this year.”
The West Side Veterans Council is made up of veterans from all the local veterans’ organizations, including VFW Post 3134, American Legion Post 21, AMVETS Post 436 and Disabled American Veterans.
