IR reports City Hall restrictions

IRON RIVER — Following federal and state directives and guidelines regarding the coronavirus (COVID – 19), the city of Iron River has closed City Hall except for appointment for essential business.
    To make an appointment, to discuss a concern or to receive additional information, call 265-4719.
    Access to the building is through the First Avenue entrance.
    Questions regarding police issues, call 875-6669.
    For all deliveries, call 265-4719 to report your deliveries and you will be met at the First Avenue entrance.    
    Customers paying their water bill are asked to use the adjacent utility drop box or mail payment to the office. Those with questions regarding their water bill are asked to call 265-4719 ext. 103.
    Those with for questions concerning Veterans Affairs are asked to call 265-3819.
    “Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we work through the coronavirus (COVID-190 crisis together,” city manager David Thayer said.
    Additionally, the public meeting schedule has been substantially lessened (see story below); however, any meeting held will follow the Open Meetings Act very carefully, Thayer said in a news release. Full access to all meetings can be gained through the First Avenue door or the handicap access door.
    “Due to efforts to mitigate the spread of this terrible virus, our lives have been turned upside down,” Thayer said. “I expect that life will become much more restricted over the next several weeks. However, if we all do our part, maybe we can limit the destruction to our society and protect those most vulnerable.”
