Get lights ready for Christmas parade
IRON RIVER—Help light the way through downtown Iron River on Dec. 6 by being a part of the community’s Christmas In Lights parade.
This year’s theme is “Yooper Christmas.” Participants can preregister their floats at the Chamber of Commerce office. There are three categories: youth (individual/group/organization), adult (individual/group/organization) or business. Prize monies totaling $450 will be awarded for first, second and third place in the categories.
The Christmas In Lights parade will begin at 6 p.m. The parade route will be slightly different this year. The lighted floats will line-up on the west end of Genesee Street beginning near the post office. The floats will make their way east down Genesee Street though downtown Iron River to the RV Park. At the park, they will file into the circle to be judged.
Parade watchers can follow the floats to the RV Park, where they can receive cookies and hot chocolate.
The evening will conclude with a holiday fireworks display.
The Christmas In Lights celebration is sponsored by the Iron County Chamber of Commerce and the Iron River Downtown Development Association.
