Cookie sale fundraiser being held for Ivey
CRYSTAL FALLS—A Christmas cookies fundraiser is being held to cover costs to help local youth Robbie Ivey get a handicap van.
Ivey was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy at age 4.
He needs a handicap accessible van to help him get to and from appointments and other events like school functions and being with friends,” said Michelle Graves, a representative of the fundraiser group. “Right now, friends and family have to lift him out of the motorized wheelchair into their vehicles and then load the wheelchair into the back of the vehicle.
“This is hard on Robbie and wear and tear on the wheelchair. Like all handicapped equipment, the van isn’t cheap, with all the requirements you need to have to make it handicap accessible.”
Cost for the cookies (which may contain nuts, gluten, eggs and dairy) are: $10 for a small box of approximately 12 cookies; $20 for a medium box of approximately 24 cookies; and $30 for a large box of approximately 36 cookies.
To place an order, call Graves at 906-284-3405, Carrie Ivey at 906-284-0193, or stop in at Sentinel Technologies in Crystal Falls.
All orders are due by Dec. 9 at 5 p.m. Payment is due at time of order. Payment can be made with cash, check or credit card.
