Reader questions city funding issues
To the editor:
    It is great the city of Iron River wants to seek the issue of bonds. Does anyone else see the irony in this desire for the intent to issue bonds to raise capital? The intent of the city of Iron River is to have the taxpayers take care of one building in the downtown area, the former Coast to Coast store, at the cost in excess of $500,000.
    Here we go again taxpayers, getting stuck with bills like the former Central High School, now known as Apple Blossom Apartments. As taxpayers beginning in 2015, we have to pay $66,000 a month for the next 11 years on this building’s cost of rehabilitation. When this building was to be rehabilitated, the first floor was supposed to be businesses that would generate revenue for the city to ...
