On Sept. 21, Robert S. Mercure will be honored as an outstanding alumnus of Marquette Senior High School by being inducted into the Pendill Wall of Excellence in Marquette.
I would like to thank the West Iron County School system for the opportunity to earn the respect you bestowed on me as a Teacher of the Year in 1990; especially to all the students I had in U.S. History, World History, Geography and Drivers Education. That along with the District Championship in wrestling, which earned me recognition as a Regional Coach of the Year in 1989. I attribute this to a culmination of hard work by the Wrestling Team and the belief in what we were doing as a team (1985-91). All this helped me earn the recognition I am now honored to receive.
My appreciation goes out to all I worked with in the Iron River community and will always be in my memories.
