IRON RIVER — Richard “Dick” Tryan, age 77, passed away on Monday, Aug. 17, 2020.

He was born on Dec. 28, 1942, in Escanaba, the son of Ruby (Provo) Tryan and the late Earl Tryan. Dick attended the Escanaba schools, graduating from Escanaba High School with the class of 1960. He proudly served his country in the United States Army.

Dick married Donna (Reitmeyer) Olson on May 17, 2008. The couple celebrated their 12th wedding anniversary this year.

He was employed as a superintendent for Hebert Construction Company. He was a member of the Michigan Carpenters Union, the American Legion Reino Post No. 21, and the VFW Ottawa Post 3134 of Iron River. He enjoyed canning, gardening and going to camp at the lake.

Dick is survived by his wife, Donna; son, Earl Tryan of Flippin, Ark.; stepsons, Pat and Frank Olson of Iron River; stepdaughters, Stacy Olson and Jenny (Thad) Sartorelli, both of Iron River; mother, Ruby Tryan; brother, Earl (Karen) Tryan and Robert Tryan, both of Escanaba; sisters, Judy (Steve) Smith of Yuma, Ariz., Sharon (Brian) Stephans of Michigan, and Laura (John) Love of Florida; grandchild, Jessie Tryan; step grandchildren, Lisa and Sarah Irish, James and Louis Sartorelli and Giovanna Olson; step great-grandchildren, Cash Koski and Jaxson Wright.

In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, George and Paul Tryan; and step grandson, Frank Olson, Jr.

Visitation was held on Aug. 19 at the Jacobs Funeral Home in Iron River. Graveside service followed at Stambaugh Cemetery with Rev. Gregory Veneklase officiating. The West Side Veterans accorded Military Rites at the graveside.
