Lila Kosky

IRON RIVER — Lila M. Kosky, age 91, lifelong resident of Iron River, went home to her Lord and Savior surrounded by her family on Sunday, Aug. 9, 2020, at Aspirus Iron River Hospital.

She was born on Jan. 9, 1929, in Iron River, the daughter of the late Nick and Helvi (Maki) Syynimaa. She attended the Iron River schools, graduating with the class of 1947.

Lila married Jalo Wilhart Kosky on Sept. 11, 1948, in Marquette. The couple made their home in Iron River and celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary in 2000. Jalo preceded her in death on Oct. 23, 2000.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Red Hat Ladies and the WELCA group at church. Lila enjoyed reading, knitting and word searches. She devoted her life to raising her family.

Lila is survived by her daughter, Candace (George) Schoessow of Wausau, Wis.; son, Randy (Liz) Kosky of Bethel Park, Pa.; grandchildren, Krista (Matt) Weiler, Kyle (Jamie) Schoessow, Jason (Colleen) Kosky and Jenna (Grant) Swisher; great-grandchildren, Emma and Ellis Schoessow, Aubree Weiler, Jalo and Evelyn Kosky, and Finley Swisher; extended family and friends.

Private family services will be held.

Interment will be in Stambaugh Cemetery.
