Josephine Barry

IRON RIVER — Josephine M. Barry, age 99, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 9, 2020, at the Iron River Care Center.

Josephine was born on March 4, 1921, in Iron River, the daughter of the late Joseph and Bernice (Chula) Yopek. She attended the Iron River Schools.

Josephine married Omer Barry on Dec. 14, 1940 in Iron River and the couple were lifelong residents of the area. They celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary in 1990, and Omer preceded her in death in July of 1993.

Josephine loved gardening and enjoyed cooking.

She is survived by her son, Jerome “Jay” (Kay) Barry of Iron River; daughter, Cheryl (John) Bennett of Sarasota, Fla.; two grandchildren, Sandi (Gary) Scalcucci and Kelly (Edward) Frazier; and four great-grandchildren, Ashlee, Barry, Sara and Matthew; two great-great-grandchildren, Lila and Tate; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her brother Edward and sisters, Rose, Helen, Stella, Pauline and Bernice.

Private services will be held.

Interment will be in Resthaven Cemetery, Iron River.
