She was born Aug. 18, 1935, in Bates Township, the daughter of the late Anton and Isabel (Matkovich) Vidas. Anna Mae attended the Bates and Iron River Schools, graduating from Iron River High School with the Class of 1953 and later attended Cleary College in Ypsilanti.
