CRYSTAL FALLS — The Crystal Falls District Library has analyzed data from the 116 responders from its patron surveys distributed in the fall.
“Thank you to everyone who completed the patron survey this fall,” director Evelyn Gathu said. “(T)here were lots of good suggestions and comments that the library would like to respond to.”
Gathu said that in response to patrons’ suggestions, the library will do the following:
-order more classics, history, Christian fiction, and juvenile and young adult books to its collection
-add some knitting, crocheting, and music magazines to the periodical collection.
-work on acquiring some “how-to” DVDs
-work on improving our customer service relations
-add a summer reading program for children
-add more programming, especially for 6-18-year-olds (when it is safe to do so)
-put the new books and materials on the website twice a month, rather than once every two months
-add a permanent suggestion box
“Some patrons requested that we loan out our DVDs for free, Gathu said “After discussion, the Library Board felt that our fee of 50 cents for a five-day checkout per DVD was adequate.”
Gathu said there were suggestions on how to improve the library space, such as upgrading the juvenile/young adult furniture, increasing quiet working spaces, and adding a section to the library where coffee/snacks would be available for purchase.
“The board thought these were good ideas and is looking into making these changes.”
Gathu said the surveys were valued.
“Thank you for helping us to improve.”
