Three charges for stabbing suspect
CRYSTAL FALLS—The suspect arrested after a stabbing incident at the Holiday Stationstore in Iron River on Oct. 7 was arraigned on three charges in Iron County Trial Court later that day.
Ian Louis Bortolameolli, 34, of Caspian, was charged with one count of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder (10-year felony), one count of assault with a dangerous weapon (four-year felony), in this case a screwdriver, and aggravated assault (a one-year misdemeanor).
A probable cause conference has been scheduled for Monday, Oct. 21 at 8:30 a.m. The preliminary examination is set for Oct. 28 at 11:15 a.m.
According to a press release from the Iron River Police Department on Oct. 7, the victim was stabbed in the abdomen several times and received a puncture wound and laceration to his face. The wounds were reported as superficial.
The IRPD added that the attack appeared to be random at the time of the arrest and that the victim did not know his attacker.
Bortolameolli remains incarcerated at the Iron County Correctional Facility.
