Not much drama at primary vote

IRON RIVER—Everything followed routine during the primary election in Iron County on Aug. 7. Only a few local issues provided any drama at all.
Most of the attention was focused on partisan races for governor, state senator and state representative, where the incumbents could not seek new terms because of the state’s term limits law.
Primary election winners advance to the general election on Nov. 6.
In Iron County, four of the five County Board seats only had one candidate—the incumbent. The exception was District 2 (Bates Township and the north half of Iron River, Precincts 1 and 2), where incumbent Jim Brennan did not file for a new term.
Nobody filed for either party’s nomination, but four candidates with no party affiliation are seeking the District 2 seat: Mike Stafford, Roger Zanon, Darla Bonno and Mark Polley. District 2 voters will select one of them in November.
