Museum visitor dig into Miners Day fun
It was a day of mining, music, pies and painting, as well as revisiting memories of Iron County’s mining history and the miners of the area. The Miners Day Picnic was held on Sept. 2 at the Iron County Museum in Caspian. Throughout the day, kids sported headlamps and ventured into a mining maze, dug for minerals, drew a mine headframe and painted rocks. Adults were treated to pasties and pies, music and museum tours. During the event, the Miners Commemoration Ceremony took place to honor those who gave their lives in the underground stopes digging through the earth in search of the iron ore that helped forge a nation.
