U.P. Honor Flight schedule released
GLADSTONE—The Upper Peninsula Honor Flight has scheduled its next mission for April 22. The flight will fly 80 veterans to Washington D.C. The veterans will visit the World War II Memorial, Korean Memorial, Vietnam Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, and Air Force memorial, as well as taking a bus tour of downtown Washington.
This flight will include approximately 15 World War II veterans and 65 Korean War-era veterans, plus a guardian for each veteran and support personnel. With this flight, nearly 650 veterans have participated in the flights from the Upper Peninsula.
Veterans and family members will gather on April 21 at the Terrace Bay Inn in Gladstone the evening before the flight. The community is invited to welcome the veterans home from the flight on April 22 at the Delta County airport at approximately 7:30 p.m. (EST)
The Honor Flight takes World War II and Korean War era veterans to Washington at no expense to the veteran. They are accompanied by a guardian who pays their own expenses. The fall flight is scheduled for Sept. 16.
