High court rejects Levack appeal
LANSING—The Michigan Supreme Court has denied the application to appeal by a former Kingsford man convicted of murdering an elderly Iron County woman in 2012.
David Anthony Levack, 47, filed the appeal after the Michigan Court of Appeals affirmed his conviction on May 20, 2014. In the order issued, the Michigan Supreme Court stated that Levack’s application for leave to appeal was denied “because we are not persuaded that the questions presented should be reviewed by this court.”
Levack is serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole for the September 2011 murder of 81-year-old Joyce Johnson of Stambaugh Township. Johnson was found dead the same day she was scheduled to testify against Levack in a stolen property case in Iron County Circuit Court.
