GAASTRA — The city of Gaastra issued a water boil advisory for local residents after a water main break in the city.
A local resident noticed excess water in their yard and informed the city on Jan. 6. Gaastra City Manager Debbie Tusa said the water main was fixed that day.

“Nothing major caused it, we didn’t have any construction going on or anything like that,” Tusa said. “It was probably water pressure more than likely.”

Tusa said the city had issued the boil advisory as a precautionary measure while the water was tested post-repair.

“The water, everything looked fine, but we’re just doing the advisory just to be on the safe side,” Tusa told the Reporter on Jan. 9, adding that the city would conduct two more days of testing before it considered lifting the advisory.

The boil advisory was lifted on Jan. 11.
