Friend of Court amnesty starts

CRYSTAL FALLS—The Iron County Friend of the Court’s office will participate in the 41st Circuit Court’s second Child Support Amnesty event with Dickinson and Menominee counties, in which individuals can come in to discuss their child support cases without fear of being arrested.
The event will run from Monday, Dec. 11, through Friday, Dec. 15.
During the amnesty event, anyone who is a payer in a child support case can meet with Friend of the Court Heidi Van Slooten or one of the caseworkers, Cathy Manci or Shelby Foley, to determine if they are eligible for review, reduction of arrearages or lowering monthly charges. They can ask questions and work toward getting their cases aligned with their circumstances and needs.
Even if an individual currently has a Friend of the Court bench warrant, he or she will not be arrested during this week-long event. Representatives from each of the Friend of the Court offices in the 41st Circuit will be able to assist individuals in addressing out-
standing bench warrants.
