Charges sought after Mastodon explosion
IRON MOUNTAIN—Charges are being sought against two individuals who attempted to bring down a structure with explosives in Mastodon Township on Aug. 26, the Michigan State Police reported.
At approximately 12:30 p.m., troopers from the Iron Mountain Post responded to the residence to investigate a report of an explosion and gunfire. After an investigation, troopers revealed the two individuals attempted to bring down the structure using large amounts of Tannerite and fireworks. Commercial grade fireworks, a large quantity of Tannerite and pipe bomb type explosives were seized.
The Michigan State Police Bomb Squad from Gaylord was dispatched to dispose of the explosives.
The investigation continues and charges are being sought against the individuals involved.
Troopers at the scene were assisted by the DNR Law Enforcement.
