CF man held on drug, weapons charges
CRYSTAL FALLS—A Crystal Falls man was arrested Sept. 17 on drug and weapons charges after an investigation by the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team.
Ethan Pipping, 26, was arraigned Sept. 18 on one felony count of possession of a short-barreled shotgun, one felony count of delivery or manufacture of marijuana and one felony count of possession of a firearm at the time of committing or attempting to commit a felony.
Pipping faces a maximum of 11 years in prison if convicted on all counts consecutively.
According to a press release from UPSET, detectives conducted the investigation involving the manufacture of marijuana at a residence on Sixth Street in Crystal Falls. Detectives from UPSET, along with personnel from the Michigan State Police Iron Mountain Post and the Crystal Falls Police Department, obtained a search warrant for the residence. During the search, authorities seized 106 marijuana plants, more than five pounds of processed marijuana and illegal firearms.
Pipping was arrested at the scene and lodged at the Iron County Correctional Facility.
Agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives assisted at the scene, and federal charges are expected, the press release stated.
