CF driver injured in Marquette crash
MARQUETTE— A 62-year-old Crystal Falls woman was critically injured Saturday, Dec. 13, in a two-vehicle crash in Marquette Township.
According to a press release from the Marquette County Sheriff’s office, the accident occurred around 3:10 p.m. Eastern Time on U.S. 41 near Northwoods Road.
Sherry Wolak of Crystal Falls was driving a 2006 Toyota SUV when she tried to turn onto eastbound U.S. 41 and pulled into the path of a westbound 1999 Dodge pickup truck driven by Leah Arvon, 38, of Ishpeming. The truck hit the driver’s side of Wolak’s vehicle.
Both Wolak and a passenger, Dawn Thoreson, 41, of Amasa, were transported to U.P. Health System Marquette. Wolak was admitted and listed in critical condition. Thoreson was treated and released. The driver of the pickup truck was not injured.
Seatbelts were used and airbags were deployed in both vehicles.
The Marquette City Police, Northern Michigan University Public Safety, Marquette Township Fire and Marquette General EMS assisted at the scene.
