Catch some community fun at Bass Fest

CRYSTAL FALLS — The 57th Annual Bass Festival once again will be hosted by the Crystal Falls Lions Club. This long-standing event is set for this weekend July 8-10.
    This is one community event that you won’t want to miss, as it is filled with fun activities such as kid’s games, delicious food and live music.
    Friday, July 8 Kicks off with shopping and dining specials in the local area. And is a time for family get-togethers and renewing old friendships.
    Saturday, July 9 the Bass Festival Parade makes its way down Superior Avenue at 10 a.m., with registration starting at 9 a.m. at Forest Park School. This year’s theme is “American Heroes Who Serve”.
    The Canoe Race down the Paint River will take place after the parade, with registration starting at 11 a.m.
    The rest of the weekend events take place at Runkle Lake Park.
    Bring the family down to the community picnic for the famous chicken barbeque dinner starting at noon. Concessions with food and refreshments will be available from noon to 6:30 p.m.
    Volleyball tournament starts at 1 p.m. with registration at the Lion’s Den starting at 12:30 p.m. 
    There will be live music by Lovin’ Country from 1- 6:30 p.m. and the traditional WOPS vs. SWEDES softball game gets started at 7:30 p.m.
    Sunday July 10 the VFW Breakfast will be served from 8 a.m. to noon at 108 Superior Ave. 
    The Run your Bass off starts at 9 a.m. at Runkle Lake Park, 10k/Half Bass/2 Mile Walk/Kids Run. 
    At noon concessions continue at Runkle Lake Park as well as the Baby Contest. 
    1 p.m. the volleyball tournament continues and horseshoe tournament starts with registration at 12:30 p.m.
    From 1- 6 p.m. enjoy live music by Sons of Legend. 
    Kids Games get under way at 2 p.m. down by the beach.
    At 3 p.m., the winners of the fishing tournament will be announced at the Runkle Lake Pavilion. And, at 6 p.m., the raffle winners will be announced.
