FLORENCE, Wis.: The Wild Rivers Quilt Guild invites all quilters and art enthusiasts to its upcoming meeting on Tuesday, June 27, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 900 Central Avenue, intersection of US 2 and 101 at the west end of Florence. The program for the evening is entitled, “Bargello Quilt-Making” presented by Jackie Lehto, a local quilter, teacher and long-arm professional. Jackie says that the Bargello quilt is one of the most mesmerizing designs in traditionally pieced quilts. With color selection and close attention to the pattern changes literally in every row, even a beginning quilter can be successful in making a beautiful Bargello quilt. There are challenges in making Bargello quilts and it is not a quick process, but the result is worth the extra care and time. Jackie will share some of the history of Bargello quilts, how to choose appropriate fabric and colors, how to prepare fabric before starting, managing hundreds of pieces, and good construction techniques that will help you make your Bargello quilt the best. It will be a very informative presentation on traditional quilting methods.

Jackie also offers a hands-on workshop for the community. She will guide her students in the making of a simple two color Bargello quilt about 45” x 65” on Thursday, May 27 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. To enroll in Jackie’s class, visit www.wildriversquiltguild.org. Space is limited. For more information visit www.wildriversquiltguild.org. Guests and new members are always welcome.
