Assault reported at IR gas station
IRON RIVER—The Iron River Police Department was dispatched to an assault at a local gas station at approximately 7:45 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 6.
According to a press release from the IRPD, the suspect stabbed the victim several times in the abdomen, and the victim also received a puncture wound and laceration to his face. The wounds were reported as superficial.
Officers were able to identify the suspect after reviewing security footage. The suspect was apprehended at his
residence shortly thereafter by the IRPD with assistance from the Caspian Police Department and the Iron County Sheriff’s Department.
At the time of the incident, the attack appears to be random and the victim did not know his attacker, according to IRPD Police Chief Curtis Bristol. The IRPD said there was no further risk to the public at the time and the suspect was lodged at the Iron County Correctional Facility.
