IRON RIVER—A vision that began at least a decade ago came to fruition when the Aspirus Iron River Clinic held its grand opening on March 15.
About 1,200 community members took in the festivities that included a ribbon-cutting ceremony, a community open house and tours at the $9 million, 2,400 square-foot clinic located on the picturesque shores of Ice Lake.
Understandably, it was a day of celebration for Aspirus Iron River Hospital & Clinics administrators and staff.
“We’ve waited for this moment for a really long time,” said Connie Koutouzos, Aspirus Iron River Hospital CEO. “It’s a very exciting day for Iron River, for Iron County. To see a rural community have this type of resource available and to be able to bring first-class health care here locally, it’s just a really good feeling.”
“This new Aspirus Iron River Clinic improves the health care experience for our patients and our staff,” said Aspirus Upper Peninsula Region CEO Chuck Nelson. “For our patients, they receive the excellent health care they need in a more comfortable and easier-to-access facility. For our staff, they now have the very best environment of care to give patients for the care they need when they need it the most.”
The clinic combines four Iron River clinics – Riverside Plaza, Genesee Street, Ice Lake Clinic and Surgical Associates – into one state-of-the-art facility. The new Iron River clinic will house family medicine, specialty care, imaging and lab services on the main level and physical and occupational therapies on the lake level.
Specialty medicine includes cardiology, general surgery, peripheral vascular services, orthopedics, spine and back surgery and telemedicine.
The new clinic has 25 examination rooms and redesigned patient rooms for greater comfort as well as a covered drop-off entrance, the addition of about 100 parking spaces and a spacious lobby overlooking Ice Lake.
All of this within a stone’s throw from Aspirus Iron River Hospital, making the campus much more convenient for patients.
