Good days for fishing

Deb Weis, of Crystal Falls Township, found that fishing from Jan. 30 to Feb. 2 was very productive, even though a fishing calendar had those days sighted as, “don’t bother going fishing” days. She went out anyway and caught these 33-plus -inch northern pike on a lake in Iron County using a combination of shiners and large suckers on Frabill tip ups. There were three other keeper pike in the upper 20 inches as well as a bunch of small hungry pike. Imagine the catch she’d have on “good fishing” days. (submitted photos)
