LAURIUM — News about COVID-19 is changing fast in Upper Michigan and around the world, Aspirus stated in a news release.
“That’s why it’s so important for everyone to stay informed and do their part to help prevent the spread of this deadly disease.”
The coronavirus comes in several strains with varying effects, from mild illness, such as symptoms of the common cold, to more severe cases, and even death.
Aspirus health experts advise everyone to take the necessary precautions very seriously because the disease is near, and it is not over yet.
“We cannot let our guard down on this because we are seeing cases close to home and the number of positives continue to climb,” said Andrew Tait, PA-C, certified physician assistant for Aspirus. “We continue to take all of the required precautions to ensure the safety of our patients, employees and the communities we serve.”
Those who are feeling ill or concerned of having been exposed are advised to do the following:
    • Isolate at home.
    • Avoid contact with others and do not go to work.
    • Monitor symptoms.
    • Get rest and drink plenty of fluids.
    • Continue to mask and avoid large gatherings.
“While we do live in a rural area and have smaller populations, it does not mean we’re safe from this pandemic,” said Paula Chermside, chief administrative officer for Aspirus. “We need to be vigilant and continue to practice social distancing, wear masks and wash our hands frequently.”
Chermside added, “I do want our patients to know that Aspirus is here and prepared to take care of you. It is so important to seek medical care if you are sick.”
