LANSING — The Michigan Infrastructure Office’s Technical Assistance Center announced on Feb. 20 that it would open a second round of applications for technical assistance to help communities apply for federal infrastructure grants to build safe roads and bridges, more robust transit connectivity and infrastructure.

The federal grants are coming from the U.S. Department of Energy and U.S. Department of Transportation. There will be two phases to the MIO’s application. The first phase will accept applications for assistance until March 8 to support federal funds due in April. The second phase will accept applications until March 22 for grants due from May to July.

The TAC provides technical assistance, planning and matching grants to local and tribal governments. Support available includes consulting services for grant identification for project funding, grant writing and technical responses, cost-benefit analysis, and match to projects.

“These funds represent the opportunity to address critical infrastructure needs including enhanced road safety, modernizing public transit systems, accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles and bolstering our state’s overall infrastructure resilience,” said TAC Director Kris Brady in a news release. “Through our tailored assistance programs, we aim not only to facilitate successful grant applications, but also to drive sustainable development and enrich the quality of life for all Michiganders.”
