IRON RIVER — For the second year in a row, two local authors, one former and one current, have short stories published in Downstate Story, an annual online magazine published by Downstate Story, Inc., an Illinois not-for-profit corporation. The magazine features nine new stories by Illinois and Midwestern writers and is Peoria’s only literary magazine for fiction and is published on the Web at www.downstatestory.com.
    Audrey Carli, Iron River, is the author of “Inspiration in a Family Tragedy.” She is the author of several books and magazine articles and has taught creative writing to adults and is a speaker on coping with grief.
    Arlene Shovald, Salida, Colorado, is a former editor of The Reporter and is the author of “Senior Prom.” She is a reporter for The Mountain Mail in Salida, Colorado, author of several books and magazine articles and is a clinical and past life regression hypnotherapist.
    Most of the outstanding writers in Downstate Story have long lists of publications in other literary magazines and some have authored books.
