IRON COUNTY — The Friends of Camp Batawagama (FOCB) is making progress toward its goal of raising $25,000 online to support the construction of a new bathroom building for boy campers at the Iron County Youth Camp. The $25,000 will cover about one quarter of the projected cost, and it will be a great way to show larger donors the support Camp Batawagama has from generations of former campers, staff members, parents and fans. Nearly $9,000 has been raised as of Dec. 11.
The foundation of Camp Batawagama (Iron County Youth Camp) is strong, thanks to decades of support from Iron County. To make camp an even better place, the nonprofit organization Friends of Camp Batawagama wants to enhance the infrastructure on the land between two waters.
Go to FriendsOfCampBatawagama.com to support this group effort and share the fundraiser link with others who understand the magic of a summer camp that fosters respect for the environment, the people around you and simpler times. For 25-plus years, the Friends of Camp Batawagama have supported substantial improvements to the camp facilities, most notably Friends Hall. Help FOCB celebrate its 25th anniversary by making a donation to this campaign.
Camp Batawagama’s vision is to reuse the current boy camper bathroom as a staff bathroom facility. A new bathroom building will be constructed where the men’s staff bathroom currently stands. Existing hookups can be reused. Current plans for the new camper bathroom call for it to have five sinks, five toilets, three urinals, an ADA compliant stall and eight individual showers with total privacy.
The mission of Friends of Camp Batawagama is to foster the preservation of programs and the environment at Camp Batawagama. The vision of FOCB is to take an active role by providing avenues of financial support and volunteerism to the camp.
