Plans moving ahead for this winter’s IronLine race

IRON RIVER—Plans for this winter’s IronLine sled dog race, scheduled for Jan. 31 and Feb 1 2014, were laid out by race directors Josh and Grace Brindle during a community roll-out event sponsor celebration held Sept. 18 at the Windsor Center.

 
Annual apple festival and flea market planned

BEECHWOOD—The Beechwood Historical Society and Beechwood Friendly Neighbors are hosting the second annual Apple Festival and Flea Market on the grounds of the Beechwood Hall on Saturday, Sept. 28, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

100+ Women choose recipient

CRYSTAL FALLS— At its regular quarterly meeting on Aug. 21, the 100+ Women of Iron County voted to give their second donation to the Crystal Falls Contemporary Center.

 
New book honors Iron County women

CASPIAN—The study committee of the Iron County Museum for the project on activities and contributions of women to the growth of Iron County has announced that the resulting book, “Women of Iron County, Michigan–1882-2013,” is now available for sale at the museum’s gift shop and will soon be available at museums in other locations as well as shops in the county.

 
Crossroads to perform at VFW post

IRON RIVER—The VFW Post 3134 in Iron River will have live music on Saturday, Sept. 21, at 8 p.m.
Crossroads will be performing. There is no cover charge and the public is welcome. The post is located at 94 E. Genesee St.

IRON RIVER—Josh Brindle, organizer of last winter’s IronLine sled dog race, has announced that another great sled dog event is scheduled for Iron County in 2014.

 
Pumpkin Run in IR will help for winter

IRON RIVER—The Pumpkin Run will be held on Saturday, October 5, at 10 a.m. at the Iron County Chamber of Commerce.
The event includes a 5K run/walk and a 1-mile fun run/walk. Registration fees are $20 for the 5K and $12 for the 1-mile. A family rate is also available.
