IRON RIVER—In conjunction with Rodeo weekend festivities, the Friends of the West Iron District Library will host a used book sale, a bake sale, and a western photo shoot. All events will take place on Friday, July 18, beginning at 9 a.m.

The lights are on at The Stand, which reopened on June 11 in Iron River.

IRON RIVER—To say that folks have been awaiting the reopening of the root beer stand on Lalley Road is an understatement.

A birthday cake floated down the street in Alpha during the 100 year celebration and 4th of July parade. Hundreds of past residents of Alpha, family members, Porter School alumni and friends visited Alpha for the weekend festivities. Music, games, reunions and ceremonies highlighted the centennial event.

 
Circus returns to Iron River

IRON RIVER— The circus will come to town again.
The Culpepper & Merriweather Great Combined Circus will return on Friday, July 11, to the Iron County Fairgrounds. Show times are 5 and 7:30 p.m. and will go on rain or shine.

CRYSTAL FALLS—Crystal Falls native Bert Chapman will be signing his book “Recipes From the Wayside Lunch” on July 11 and 12 at the Ben Franklin store in Crystal Falls. The signings will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day.

BEECHWOOD—On June 11, a group of 53 people took part in the seventh annual walking cemetery tour in West Iron County, held at Rosehill Cemetery in Beechwood.
