IRON RIVER—The Carrie Jacobs-Bond Quilt Club will hold its annual rummage/bake sale on Friday, June 7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Saturday, June 8, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. in Big Tone’s Cafeteria in the Windsor Center in Iron River.

 
Cemetery tour visits Resthaven on June 12

CASPIAN—The sixth annual walking tour of a cemetery in West Iron County will take place at Resthaven Cemetery on Wednesday, June 12, from 6 to 8 p.m. The cemetery is located on U.S. 2 near the junction of M-73.

West Iron County students got a behind-the-scenes peek at the marketing and business aspect of operating a minor league baseball team when they visited the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers recently in Appleton. WIC business and accounting teacher Darin Barry said, “I feel this experience was beneficial to our students to see how what we learned is applied to the real world.” The Timber Rattlers are an affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers in the Class A Midwest League.

IRON RIVER—On Wednesday, May 8, students in Denise Maloney’s pre-kindergarten class marched down to the principal’s office, dressed in red, white, and blue and carrying American flags, to welcome Sgt. Steve Pietila home from his deployment in Afghanistan and into their classroom.
