Sharing the road
Tuesday, May 15, 2012 1:26 PM | Updated ( Tuesday, May 22, 2012 1:47 PM )

With warm temperatures arriving, as well as the final weeks of school, area motorists will be sharing the road with other wheeled friends and neighbors.
Motorcyclists, bicyclists, four-wheeler drivers and dirt bike “racers” are taking to the highways, road shoulders, side streets and alleys, creating hazards and distractions that all motorists need to on the alert for.

Coming soon!

Spring is here. The dandelions are growing, lawn mowers are buzzing, robins are chirping, and many of you are at work in your gardens, And above it all, along U.S. 2 in Iron River, an occasional roar. A clank. A chunk-chunk-chunk. A bang-bang-bang.
Hydraulic power at work. Physical force in action. A reinforced steel blade smashing a much-repaired street surface. Solid (if uneven) sidewalks giving way to big bladed buckets.

Kudos to all
To the editor:
Kudos to all who helped at the Iron County Museum cleanup on April 21.
Members of the West Iron Key Club, participating museum board members and other volunteers and friends made this a special day for the museum.

Volunteers make it happen

Ah, the month of May… spring is beginning its full bloom and that includes a variety of house chores interrupted by the onset of winter.
This is also when the planning for summer events gets a little hectic. Many groups and organizations have been planning for this summer’s season back last year, just after wrapping up that season’s event.
Now, the organizing, planning, tweaking, etc., takes on a serious note, because, let’s face it, time really is of the essence and the room to maneuver is closing in.

Pack 508 says ‘thanks’
To the editor:
Cub Scout Pack 508 would like to thank all of the people who supported the spaghetti dinner held on April 10 at the United Lutheran Church of Crystal Falls.
With all of the generosity from the communities of Crystal Falls and Iron River, we will be sending all Cub Scouts who want to go to Camp Hiawatha this August.
