In our June 6 newspaper, we carried an article about the Iron River Senior Center facing nutrition program cuts.
The article noted that, like much of the U.P., the nutrition programs in both Iron and Dickinson counties are on the decline. The decline has put the local senior center at risk of losing its entire program.

Bake sale thanks
To the editor:
The Alpha Museum Board of Directors would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who made our recent Memorial bake sale our most successful ever.
Special thanks are extended to Millie and all of our wonderful bakers, Dorothy and Mo for their Telephone Time chats, and the many folks who donated food and money or came to buy goodies to enjoy. Thank you all.

The classrooms have emptied, computers shut down, books shelved for the summer.
It’s a good time to look back and thank our area teachers for their work this past school year.

Ready for summer?

 Are you ready for summer?
Ready or not, it’s ready for you. Here it it, knocking on your front door. Road construction is already in full swing. The detours for the U.S. 2 project in Iron River are not in place yet, but it won’t be long.
The leaves are at last fully in bloom. While we still are a bit behind in rainfall, the wildfire danger seems to be mostly over, Bushes and grasses and trees are a fresh new green. They’re ready for summer.
