Hunting partners Chris and Wyatt Stachowicz of Gaastra got their buck on Nov. 15, the opening day of the Michigan firearm deer season. Chris said his son, 10, was his good luck charm, bringing in a 10-point buck. In previous years, the biggest one he’d taken was an eight-pointer. Due to Michigan’s many youth hunting opportunities, Wyatt was able to hunt with his dad for the first time and be part of harvesting a big buck. The duo was hunting in the Pentoga area and made a 60-yard shot in the open hardwoods from a ground blind.
