Tuesday, February 04, 2014 10:58 AM

On Saturday, Feb. 1, about 30 volunteers met at site 19 on Way Dam for the third year of fish crib building. This year, they built 24 cribs 8-feet square and about 5-feet high.  The cribs will fall through the ice this spring, providing habitat for many species of fish.  Also, as the water is drawn down in the winter, it will provide places for smaller fish (minnows) to hide as the shallower water with weeds in it is drained away.  This was in cooperation with Wildlife Unlimited of Iron County, WE Energies and done with volunteers in 20-mile-per-hour winds.
