Hunters’ Supper at CF-IR Masonic Lodge on Nov. 13

CRYSTAL FALLS—It’s that time of year again, when hunters gear up for their annual quest for the elusive whitetail. Another tradition in the Iron County area is the annual Hunters’ Supper hosted by the Crystal Falls-Iron River Masonic Lodge No. 385.

During the second week of October, Dock Stupp (pictured) and Ted Kagy of Iron River teamed up to catch two muskies each day for three days. Wildlife Ulimited of Iron County president, Rick Commenator, presents a check to Forest Park science teacher, Erich Ziegler and for the Trout in the Classroom project.  The WU donation of $1,500 will help fund the raising of trout as a classroom project. Greg Stebbins of Iron River shot a 9-point buck at about 5 p.m., Friday, Oct. 25, in the Gibbs City area with his compound bow. Fortunately for Stebbins, DNR conservation officer Jason Wicklund spotted him in the area and helped him track and drag the buck out of the woods. Stebbins said, “Officer Wicklund also comforted my wife, Sheree, who claimed that she was entitled to that buck because it was at her hunting stand earlier in the week.” Greg Stebbins is the president of the Camp Gibbs Association and encourages hunters to get their tickets to the Camp Gibbs Hunter’s Fundraising Banquet on Nov. 16. It’s time again to get your tickets for the Annual Camp Gibbs Hunters Banquet. Camp Gibbs Association president, Greg Stebbins, left, and banquet coordinator, Jim Duda, display this year’s grand raffle prize, the “Triple Crown”.  Stebbins said, “One lucky ticket holder will walk away with a Weatherby 30-06 rifle with a laminated thumb-hole stock, a Barnett Penetrator crossbow package, and a Browning BPS NWTF Mossy Oak Breakup fully camouflaged 12 gauge shotgun.”
