IRON RIVER—Did Iron River’s wandering bears read the story about them in the paper, realize that the jig was up and decide to blow town?
FLORENCE, Wis.—The Badwater Bash and Bass Tourney are set for Saturday, July 12. The Badwater Bash begins at 3 p.m. with food and family games. Activities include a bouncy tent for kids, minnow races, Fire Department Smoke House and face painting.

Runkle Lake in Crystal Falls was the site of the Wildlife Unlimited Kids Fishing Contest on June 28. There were 39 youths registered for the event. Three boats were available for families to fish from. They could also cast a line from shore or utilize the fishing dock.
During the Total Outdoor Woman event, Megan Nyberg of Iron River teaches campfire cooking. The program is sponsored by NorthStar Health System and Bewabic State Park. It was held on June 17 at the park west of Crystal Falls. The event was free of charge and was well attended.
