The question at the Iron County Road Commission garage in Iron River is: Which will end first--winter or the county’s road salt supply? It’s going to be close.
IRON RIVER—Hopes of updating the Road Commission’s fleet at a sale of used vehicles came to a screeching halt during its meeting April 9.
There’s just one teensy little complication: How can we pay for it?

CRYSTAL FALLS—Last Aug. 7. Forest Park voters approved a $995,000 bond measure to raise money for school improvements. The proposal received 52.4 percent support from the voters.

Michigan Army National Guard Specialist Jason Cronkright was reunited with wife Melissa, daughter Madison and Jason Jr. March 28 at the Kingsford High School gym, when members of the 1432nd Engineering Company returned home. The unit was deployed to Afghanistan for 10 months as part of Operation Enduring Freedom, disposing of improvised explosive devices and performing road clearing operations. Currently, more than 700 Michigan National Guard soldiers and airmen remain deployed worldwide. 

 
FP school forest will be replanted this spring

CRYSTAL FALLS—The Forest Park school forest will be getting some new life this spring.
At its March 25 monthly meeting, the Forest Park School Board approved a tree planting project in the school forest, located in the Panola Plains area.
