The Holiday In Lights Christmas Parade brought many Christmas storybook characters to the streets of Iron River on Saturday, Dec. 7, including the Grinch. The 4-H Young Pacesetters’ float depicting the classic “Grinch Who Stole Christmas” took first place in the youth division. More Holiday In Lights photos on the back page of this week’s Reporter.

Holiday In Lights brightens up the season

All decked out for the Holiday In Lights Christmas Parade and promoting the Toys for Tots program, foundation coordinator Skip Bilsky pulled in by Angeli’s Central Market in the Riverside Plaza on Monday, Dec. 2. He will be in the area distributing the familiar Toys for Tots boxes during the week and will also be in the parade this Saturday.
IRON RIVER—Handmade holiday gifts, décor and baked goods will be available at the annual Holiday In Lights Arts & Crafts Fair on Saturday, Dec. 7, at the Windsor Center.
The event will kick off the Holiday In Lights celebration in Iron River, with over 40 artists and crafters bringing Upper Peninsula and northern Wisconsin handcrafts to the area.

Will Iron County create new airport committee?

CRYSTAL FALLS—Vey cautiously, the Iron County Board is considering whether to create a formal airport committee, to look into the feasibility and possible sites for a new airport.
At its Nov. 14 meeting, commissioners received a report from the existing ad hoc airport committee, which has been studying possible sites.

Road Board asked for more history research

Officers from two local fire departments recently presented donations to Tom Staley of the Iron County Kiwanis Club to fund the fire protection portion of the Yell and Tell program in the local schools. The Kiwanis Club sponsors the Yell and Tell program for elementary students, to help them understand what they should do in an emergency.
