IRON MOUNTAIN—On June 12, Bay West LIFE will welcome Cindy Gustafson for a talk about the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, its location, rules and brief history.
She will discuss planning and preparing for a trip, choosing a route, and packing food and supplies. She will describe segments of a trip, and use photos to depict aspects of the trip.  There are hazards and emergencies for which the canoeist must be prepared.  People undertake the challenge of a wilderness canoe trip for different reasons, and Gustafson will discuss some of them. The presentation concludes with a slide show.
Bay West LIFE (Learning Is ForEver) is a group of folks who believe that learning is a lifelong adventure. We meet on the second Thursday of each month at 10 a.m. at the Bay West campus on North U.S.2.  Everyone is welcome, coffee, tea, and treats are on hand.  There is no charge to visit the group.
