IRON RIVER—Max Maloney had West Iron County’s best score at the Division 2 boys and golf finals, held at George Young Recreational Complex on May 29.
Maloney finished fifth in the boys individual scoreboard, shooting an 18-hole round of 82.
L’Anse’s Tristan Leaf earned medalist honors with a 78. Norway’s Justin Anderson shot an 80 for runner-up honors.
In the boys team standings, Hancock took first place with 327. Norway and L’Anse finished tied for second at 346—Norway won a tiebreaker for second place. The Wykons finished fourth at 348.
Maloney led West Iron, and Kyle Maki was right behind him with 83. Riley Thomson shot a 92, and Alec Schmelebeck fired a 92.
Only three girls teams had enough golfers for a team score in the girls competition. Iron Mountain earned first place with a score of 444. Westwood took second at 482, and West Iron was third with 513,
Margo Brown of St. Ignace was medalist with a score of 98. Alyssa Norback of L’Anse was runner-up at 102, and IM’s Cassie Feira was third with 104.
Dallas Foley had West Iron’s best score, a 115, and Michelle Wiegand finished at 116. They were followed by Megan Quayle (140) and Lauren Hawkins (142).
