ALPHA—The Porter School Faire will kick-off the season-opener of the Market Place shops from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on May 3 in the historic Porter School. The faire will host additional vendors offering arts and crafts, home-made goodies, flea market items, kids’ games, food and more.
Additionally, the Market Place will host the Porter School Faire on the first Saturday of the month in June, July and August, along with an added faire date of July 4 to coincide with the Alpha Centennial Celebration.
The Porter School Market Place is in its sixth season. Shop-keeps are excited to present many new creations and products. Shops will be open on Saturdays 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Sundays 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The Porter School Outdoor Farmers Market will begin its Saturday morning season on June 21 and it will run until mid-October. Hours will be from 9 a.m. to noon.
The Porter School Market Place is a unique shopping experience. Hand-crafted designs from the U.P. include garden art, birdhouses, soaps made with natural ingredients, baked goods, custom sewing, locally made jewelry, campfire critters and art pieces. There are also some antique pieces.
Hand-dipped ice cream is available at the Alpha General Store. A lending library and used-book room are also part of the Porter School Market Place.
